Post for Thursday September 9, 2010

I decided that I would paint a picture for the blog this time. Because we are reading A Grief Observed, I figured that it would be appropriate to paint tears in someone's eyes. C.S Lewis mentions crying. He says, "But the bath of self-pity, the wallow, the loathsome sticky-sweet pleasure of indulging it-- that disgusts me."(p.4) This statement compelled me to paint tears.

  1. Wow this is incredible, far better than anything I could have done especially when I only can draw stick figures. And I can understand why he would want to cry after reading everything the way he described it.

  2. This painting is amazing! I love the detail you used. I like how you(intentionally or not) made the tear a little suddle, mostly just welling up in his eye, not all over the place. It seemed in the book that he tried to hold in his physical grief a little. Great job.

  4. Wow...I just started to really love and truly enjoy painting and the way it is so sensitive. I am so proud of you for painting this. Great illustration of what C.S. Lewis is conveying and talking about. This is really inspirational.
